Singer, songwriter and Louisiana slide guitar phenom Sonny Landreth's first studio album in five years unites his band with a who's who of musical guests for a set of all-original roots rock tinged with the blues and New Orleans soul. Featured guitarists and vocalists include Eric Clapton, Mark Knopfler, Vince Gill, Eric Johnson, Robben Ford, Dr. John and Jimmy Buffett.

What Customers Say About From the Reach:

Landreth has done it again Wow, great cd and great music. Everyone that works with Landreth on this album also provided stellar performances.

Sonny Landreth is the Cajun Richard Thompson. I won't go into descriptions of each of the cuts, nor will I waste time telling you how much Mark Knopfler, Eric Clapton, and the other guests add to this album. Every time they put out a new album everyone says "THIS is the one that will finally bring him fame and fortune." "THIS is the album that nobody can ignore." Every time Sonny puts out a new album I hope that these people are right; that he will finally get the widespread acclaim he deserves, but that's realy beside the point, isn't it. That's one of the things that make his albums so good.Suffice it to say that this is one of the best rockin' blues albums you will ever hear.

I'd also like to add a note about Dave Ranson's bass playing. It is, simply put, a great album. It melds rock, Cajun, and blues music in Sonny's inimitable way. This guy is really something else. Outstanding. All the two of them have been doing is write great songs while producing some of the greatest guitar work on the planet for decades.

There isn't a weak song on it anywhere. Check him out particularly on "When I Still Had You." Sonny has too much integrity as an artist to ever cater to the whims of the commercial music establishment for the sake of sales. People who know music will be listening to this album long after Madonna and Britney have become footnotes in pop culture histories.

The slick moves are so voice like that it speaks to your heart. How do you pull off this many guest artists on one record. If you love New Orleans and the sound that only comes from south Lousiana this is what you want. Let it speak to your soul.Dangerous Dan

Buy it. Listen to it. He will just paint a different picture and we will all stand in awe. I don't know but I'm sure Sonny Landreth like Thomas Hart Benton doen't care.

This is pure art. How do you top this. I would have thought it couldn't be done. The most color I have found in sound in many years.

Sonny takes chances with the guitar that feel like ice skating on strings. Not all of the songs are commercial or do I believe that they were written to be. Sometimes political, sometimes at breakneck speed, sometimes deeper than it is safe to swim in but always like a Thomas Hart Benton painting showing truth in this distorted world we live in.

put it all together and you have one heck of a recording. and then playing with who he does on this album. Sonny gives fresh licks and vocals to songs that personify The Blues. He is a spectacular artist.

We love the CD and would recommend it to anyone - whether they are a major blues fan or not. I had heard an review on National Public Radio and since my husband is a big blues fan, I thought I'd try it. This was a wonderful surprise.
